ReIReS - een europese onderzoeksinfrastructuur voor Religieuze studies

ReIRes is een Europees project gefinancierd door het Horizon 2020 kaderprogramma van Europa met als doel de uitbouw van een onderzoeksinfrastructuur voor Religieuze studies binnen het Europese onderzoekslandschap. Het project breng de kennis en diensten van universiteiten, bibliotheken, archieven, musea etc., samen om de toegang tot het religieuze erfgoed van Europa te faciliteren en onderzoekers toegang te bieden tot data, informatie en fysieke collecties. Voor KU Leuven zijn de faculteit Theologie en Religiewetenschappen en LIBIS partner. LIBIS is als werkpakketleider verantwoordelijk voor de uitbouw van het digitale luik van onderzoeksinfrastructuur en zal in samenwerking met Brepols de toegang tot verschillende databanken en digitale onderzoeksbronnen voorzien.  Het project vangt aan begin 2018 en loopt over een periode van 3 jaar.


ReIRES is a European project financed by Horizon 2020 (the biggest EU Research and Innovation programme). The aim is to create a unique and groundbreaking research infrastructure (RI) on religious studies within the European Research Area. The project joints knowledge and services from universities, libraries, archives, academies, research institutions, and museums to improve the access of scholars and researchers from all over the world to the data, information and sources concerning the study of the historical and cultural influence of the plural religious heritage in the European history. For the Catholic University of Leuven, the Faculty of Theology and LIBIS contribute to the starting community with an acknowledged research infrastructure that combines physical access to archives, libraries and research instruments together with a large series of virtual and digital tools for the humanities and social sciences. 
LIBIS has been actively involved in the research and development of innovative environments where researchers can manage their scientific datasets and query them appropriately, collaborate with fellow researchers, and share results in different environments. It brings to the project its extensive experience in knowledge (thesaurus) organisation systems, data interoperability, semantic web formats and technologies. LIBIS integrates different competences such as project management, technology skills, networking and communication and the ability to connect and co-operate with researchers and best practice networks from inside and outside the University.
